About the Speaker and Topic:
Christopher Amandes is a partner in the Environmental practice group of Vinson & Elkins L.L.P.  His practice spans a wide range of environmental matters, with emphasis on compliance counseling, transactional environmental issues, enforcement defense, and resolution of environmental disputes.  His practice focuses on air, solid and hazardous waste, water quality and related environmental regulatory issues.

Chris received a B.A. with majors in Environmental Science and Engineering and Biology from Rice University in 1976 and a Masters of Environmental Engineering in 1978.  After graduation, he spent four years as a project engineer and manager for an environmental consulting firm in Houston, Texas.  He received his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles where he served as Chief Article Officer for the UCLA Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif.  From 1985 to 1986, Chris served as a law clerk to the late Honorable John R. Brown of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
